JOHN GREEN TFIOS inspired notebook

One of my friends is a crazy John Green lover like a lot of others out there. Extremely obsessed with The Fault in Our stars. And it was her birthday recently so I decide to make a DIY Notebook with John Green quotes scribbled across and the famous "Okay? Okay."

I saw the tutorial of this on youtube but I will narrow it down here as that tutorial showed it for 3 other notebooks.
First buy a plain register. I love spiral bound ones so I bought that! Try to select one on which you can easily paint acrylic!

I painted the cover all white first.
I let it dry for one day and then coated it again and let it dry for sometime. Due to the material I bought it kinda made it hard to hide the coverunderneath.

Next I scribbled famous quotes from the book The Fault In Our Stars. You can either select your favorite ones or copy from https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/1406384.John_Green

You can then print the okay bublbles or make them on your own. I made them on my own. Stick them with glue and coat the front with fevicol for a shine. IN my case unfortunately the shine sorta died away with the glue, though normally that doesnt happen. But overall it worked out and stuck the okay?okay. bubbles perfectly!

And tadaaa!!! DIY John Green Notebook is done! I scribbled some quotes inside too!

Here I am posing with the notebook! :D My friend was elated when she saw this gift!

Here is the inside of the cover.  “Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”
― John GreenThe Fault in Our Stars  That is I think one of the most beautiful quotes ever. :')

Here are my friends posing for it! :D All, very excited!

So there you go! Easy to make DIY stuff! Yo ucan try it differently with other books too! Thanks to those youtubers too who gave this brilliant idea!

DIY Remodelled Old Box

So as promised, here is my post of the project I was talking about.

When my mom was a kid she didn't have big almirahs and walk-in closets to keep her clothes. She had this iron-box where she would keep all her belongings.

A few months back, when my house was getting painted I fumbled across this box which had all our photos in it. I was overwhelmed with nostalgia when I saw the photos. Something amazing about them. I could HOLD memories.
And then my mom told me about this story... and she gave me a task... she said "Repaint this, I have always wanted to do that" And at that moment I said "no mom, I am too busy"

But recently this DIY contest by TheFilmyOwl gave me the opportunity to redo this beautiful box :')
What I have done here is that taken elements of TheFilmyOwl's style (one of my favorite artists, check her out) and mixed it with my own. As this box contained photos of my family, I decided to make all my family members in the TheFilmyOwl style. I have also added witty and humorous lines or jokes attached to the specific family members in my doodle.

Here is a BEFORE and AFTER picture

Okay Step 1! I googled - "how to paint a steel box". Followed half the steps. -_- *guilty*
I took sandpaper first and rubbed off all the rust, till it was smooth like silk! ^_^ And I could see shiny metal spaces. (FYI this was really really old and painted black before, so being able to see even a little bit of metal means JOB DONE!)

(Caution: In case you don't want to sneeze brown mucus, do put a towel around your face!)

After that I bought Asian Paint Off White color. This was I think approximately180 Rupees. I painted it all white. One can double coat it too, but single coat worked for me! And if you are painting a new box, you might wanna apply primer so that the steel doesnt soak the paint and you get a smooth effect)

Next I drafted the key characters on paper and wrote some funny jokes and taglines attached to the characters.
I took up each side separately. First drew the base structures with pencil and then painted them with acrylic. Pencils are the best to use because sketch pens tend to merge with the acrylic paint and make it all messy.
After I completed filling my characters with color, I outlined them with Black Acrylic Paint. This was one tedious job! You can even use marker if you are comfortable with that! :)

This is the front side with an orange handle. Its is my Masi's (Aunt- Mothers sister)side of the family.

This is my Dad's side of the family. Both my cousin chef brothers and my beautiful sister. It has all the quirky Punjabi quotes all around which are a part of our daily lives.

Here is a side view of the box! All the colors! ^_^

This is the top view! "Meri Yaadon ka Pitaara" means My Box of Happiness in Hindi. This part covers my Mom, Dad, my Brother, my Grandparents and my pet dog! He is a lab-adore! :P

This is the right side of my mom's brother's family. I call them mamu-mami. They are one of the hottest and the most young looking couple!

This is my dad's elder brother and his family. I call them Taya ji and Tai ji out of respect and here is a doodle expressing my love towards them! :D

This box is an ode to my family who have showered so much love upon me and cared so much for me and to thefilmyowl who inspires me.
Its really easy! you can DIY!

Blogging, its shocking.

Last night was an utter shock to me. Like seriously. Big big shock.
I had done this project. (I will upload a new post on that later) It was basically a contest I was participating in by TheFilmyOwl. I had to upload the photos of my project and sent it to TheFilmyOwl. TheFilmyOwl or TFO is this Amaaazzzing Facebook page run by Angel Bedi and I am one of her biggest fans.

Now I had done a shit amount of hard work on it so I was very eager and excited and well, anxious for her to respond. I had the tab of her message box on Facebook open and was continuously staring at it. This is when my eyes wandered to another tab on the Inbox folder of Facebook, called the "Others" tab.
I had never seen this side of my Inbox as a matter of fact. I curiously clicked on it only to see a lot of spams and other creepy "hi's and I want to be friend's with you" kind of messages.

But this one message really caught my eye. Let me give this person the name "X" or wait "shocker". Yeah that is better.
So shocker had messaged me-
"sister,am studyin @ 12th grade ! tmrow is my eng exams..i dont have any note on the lesson "On the face of it" When i googled i got ur notes ho it ws a big relief !! thankyou for your notes "

Seriously, zero creepy alert because he didnt send me a friend request and he called me "sistah". But shocker shocked the fuck out of me because I was left soo moved.

Okay so lemme tell you the part about the English notes. Well long long back, in 12th Grade, when I was too frustrated with my 12th Board exams and studying repetitively, I wandered on to eblogger.
And I decided to sorta make my notes here on computer, on a blog. I thought I could save my friends the trouble. They could just download my notes (Im so giving :3 ) And this was a fun way to study, just keep typing. Something I love.

But I had long forgotten about this blog. I didnt even remember I did something like this. And this message was such an eye opener. Someone REALLY felt the need to search me on facebook and thank me. Ok wow.

So well, of course I opened my blog to see what is going. And this. The next thing. IT WAS A BIG BIG SHOCK.

My jaw seriously dropped 10.000 feet when I saw 45k+ people have viewed this damn thing. And around like... what .... 400-500 people view it everyday.

I mean I dont really check out a lot of blogs so I thought people dont too. And I always thought that only some extremely hardworking people who devote their whole lives to blogging earn from blogs.

Well I wont be posting more than those 6 posts on that blog as I really dont wish to go back to studying 12th. But that bombshell there, it has given me the inspiration to write a personal blog. So I guess I finally have a new year resolution, right there. Blog more. Blog shit. And don't annoy people on Facebook with your daily life shit. Let it be amusing to them who would like to know about it. :)
